You can delete your Nomadic account and all associated personal data at any time. This page tells you how, what gets deleted, what we have to keep for legal reasons, and how long the process takes.
This page satisfies Apple's and Google's requirement that publishers offer an off-platform account deletion path that is reachable without installing the app.
The fastest way: from inside the app
If you have Nomadic installed, this is the path we recommend.
- Open Nomadic.
- Tap the You tab.
- Tap the gear icon in the top-right.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the deletion. You'll be signed out immediately.
Once you confirm, your account enters a 30-day grace window. During the grace window:
- Your account is soft-deleted — invisible to other users, removed from search, blocked from sign-in.
- You can cancel the deletion by signing back in within 30 days; everything is restored exactly as it was.
After 30 days, the deletion becomes permanent and irreversible. A nightly background job purges your row, your content, and every linked record from our database.
If you don't have the app installed
Email us at team@nomadic.guide with the following:
- The email address on your Nomadic account.
- A short note: "Please delete my Nomadic account."
We verify the request by responding from a domain or device we recognize, then queue the deletion on your behalf. The same 30-day grace window applies.
We acknowledge every request within two business days and complete the soft-delete the same day we acknowledge it. The permanent purge happens 30 days later via the same nightly job that processes in-app deletions.
If you no longer have access to the email on file, include any extra detail you can (display name, approximate sign-up month, the email provider you used). We'll work with you to confirm ownership before deleting anything.
What gets deleted
After the 30-day grace window expires, we permanently delete:
- Your profile (display name, username, bio, avatar, location, preferences).
- Your account credentials (Supabase auth row; if you signed in with Apple or Google, our OAuth link is severed — Apple/Google manage their own side).
- Your photos (profile photo, waypoint photos, beacon photos, market and skill listings, lost-pet alerts).
- Your waypoints, routes, field notes, beacons, conversations, market and skill listings, and any other content you authored.
- Your companions (dogs, cats, and other pets registered to you).
- Your trusted contacts and any safety alerts you triggered.
- Your check-ins, scouting reports, and aggregated activity history.
- Your subscription and entitlement state at our database. Your underlying subscription with Apple or Google is not cancelled by deleting your Nomadic account — you must cancel that separately in the App Store or Play Store.
- Your push notification subscriptions, analytics identifiers, and device identifiers.
What we keep, and for how long
A small amount of data is retained for legal, financial, or community-safety reasons. We keep the minimum necessary for the minimum time necessary.
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Aggregated, non-identifying counters (total waypoints submitted to the public corpus, etc.) | The community map you contributed to keeps working without your name attached | Indefinite, with all identifiers removed |
| Financial records of subscription transactions | US tax law and platform reconciliation | 7 years (statute requirement) |
| Moderation and safety records if your account was flagged or banned for policy violations | Prevents ban evasion, protects other users | Indefinite, with personal data minimized |
| Email transcripts of any support correspondence with our team | Operational record | 12 months after final reply |
| Backup snapshots of our database | Disaster recovery | Up to 30 days, after which the snapshot ages out |
If you have specific concerns about retained data — for example, a GDPR or CCPA request to confirm exactly what we still hold about you — email team@nomadic.guide and we'll respond within 30 days.
What this does NOT do
Deleting your Nomadic account does not:
- Cancel your App Store or Play Store subscription. Cancel that separately at reportaproblem.apple.com or in the Play Store subscription settings.
- Remove your reviews, comments, or content posted on third-party platforms (App Store reviews, social media mentions of Nomadic, etc.).
- Reverse a ban if your account was suspended for a Community Guidelines violation. Bans persist after deletion specifically to prevent ban evasion.
- Delete content posted by other users that mentions you or includes you in a photo. Use the in-app moderation flow to report that content separately.
How to confirm your deletion went through
When the permanent purge runs (30 days after you confirm), we no longer have the email address to notify you that it completed — your account row is gone. If you want explicit confirmation, email team@nomadic.guide any time after the 30-day window expires and we'll confirm in writing within two business days that no records matching your request remain in our active database.
